Report of a EurActiv interview with Wolf Klinz, MEP. chairman of the Special Committee on Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS) that was established in October 2009. It is expected to work for at least a year.

In a mid-term report issued in September 2010 CRIS said that the crisis laid bare the limits of self-regulation, demonstrating the need for strong EU economic governance, surveillance and policy co-ordination, and also the need to involve the European Parliament more closely in decision-making. EU and national recovery plans should pay special attention to small business needs and innovative energy projects, it added.
