European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans attended a Memorial Ceremony for the victims of the Paris attack organised by the European Jewish Association in Brussels on the 21 January 2015.

He said 'If there’s no future for Jews in Europe, there’s no future for Europe'. 'If the EU is to survive…it is based on the fact that for every community that belongs in Europe, there is a place in Europe'.
