In a major speech to members of the Institute for Public Policy Research in Edinburgh on the 25 July 2016, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the UK’s negotiating position to leave the EU must allow those parts of the UK that voted to leave the option of doing so, while those parts which voted to stay should have the option to remain. She said that if Scotland’s interests cannot be protected then Scotland must have the right to consider another independence referendum. |
