The leaders of the Normandy Four countries - France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine - held a telephone conversation on 24 May 2016 over the issue of improving monitoring in eastern Ukraine through the OSCE.

The press releases issued by Russia and Ukraine differed on what was agreed during the conversation.

The first talks in the so-called ‘Normandy format’ were held on the occasion of the celebration of D-Day, in Normandy, in June 2014.
