Nissan will reconsider its investment in the United Kingdom if Britain leaves the European Union, chief executive Carlos Ghosn told the BBC on the 7 November 2013.

However, Lord Jones of Birmingham (Digby Jones) – the former director general of the Confederation of British Industry – said also on the 7 November 2013 that must be ready to leave the EU to boost its competitiveness in the open market.

This followed the publication by the CBI of a report earlier in the same week saying that the majority of its members thought that UK withdrawal from the EU would be seriously damaging.
