Nicolas Sarkozy announces new presidential bid

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, 2007-2012 announced on the 22 August 2016 that he would seek the nomination to become in November 2016 the candidate of the centre-right Les Republicains party for the 2017 presidential election in France.

In connection with this development Nicolas Sarkozy published a book on the 24 August called Tout pour la France (Everything for France), which appeared to tap into concerns in France over terrorism, security and immigration.
