New poll shows UK would vote to leave EU

An opinion poll published on 6 September 2015 by Survation agency on behalf of the Mail on Sunday newspaper showed more citizens in the United Kingdom wanted to leave the European Union than wanted to stay ahead of a referendum to be held by 2017. The poll was the first to put the EU exit camp in the lead.

The Conservative government suffered a defeat in the House of Commons on the 7 September 2015, over some of the proposed changes to rules governing the EU referendum campaign. However, overall, MPs voted in favour of the EU Referendum Bill.
