An Open Europe/ComRes poll, published on the 28 May 2013, showed that whilst UKIP was heading for victory in the 2014 European Parliament elections, there was widespread support across the political spectrum for current Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron’s strategy of negotiating a new settlement in the EU, followed by an In/Out vote.

Even some 30% of UKIP voters would favour a looser relationship with the EU over outright withdrawal. Of the individual party leaders, the public still had the most faith in David Cameron to negotiate a better deal for the UK in the EU – though it’s clear that there’s a high degree of scepticism about whether a new deal could be delivered.
