Net long-term migration to the United Kingdom was estimated to be 260,000 in the year ending June 2014, a statistically significant increase from 182,000 in the previous 12 months. UK Prime Minister David Cameron had said he hoped to get net migration below 100,000 before the next general election in 2015. Mr Cameron was expected to outline how he planned to reduce European immigration in a major speech in the near future. |
