Navracsics sticks to script

Tibor Navracsics, Commissioner-designate for Education, Culture, Youth and Citizenship, faced his confirmation hearing at the European Parliament on 1 October 2014.

Mr Navracsics was mainly questioned about his party's political decisions in Hungary - some of them heavily criticised by the European authorities - and how much it conflicted with his apparent positive views on the EU.

On the 6 October 2014 the European Parliament Education and Culture Committee rejected Mr Navracsics as unsuitable for the education and culture post.
