Human rights groups and opposition journalists in Russia fear they are 'under siege' following the latest murder of a lawyer, Stanislav Markelov, and journalist, Anastasia Baburova, by a gunman in Moscow, January 2009. This is becoming a familiar pattern in Russia, where more than a dozen journalists have been murdered since 2000, and few arrests are ever made.
