Merkel reported to be among favourites for Nobel Peace Prize. Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet wins Nobel peace prize

Media sources reported in October 2015 that German chancellor Angela Merkel had been included in the shortlist for the Nobel Peace Prize, together with Pope Francis, a Russian newspaper and the parties involved in the Iran nuclear deal signed earlier in July 2015.

On 9 October 2015, the Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Peace Prize had be awarded to Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet for its contribution to democracy in the wake of the country’s 'Jasmine Revolution' in 2011.
