According to a memo issued by the European Commission on 06 July 2015, from 13 to 16 July 2015 the international community was scheduled to gather in Addis Ababa for the Third International Conference on Financing for Development. The aim of the conference was to agree on the financial and non-financial means of implementation that would support the post-2015 development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The post-2015 framework would succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and integrate the follow-up to the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development. The new agreement was expected to pave the way for two other milestones in 2015: the UN General Assembly in New York in September, where Heads of State were due to decide on the list of Sustainable Development Goals, and the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP) in Paris in December. |
