The majority of Turkey’s judiciary watchdog has resigned en masse in a gesture of defiance of government efforts to overhaul their profession. Kadir Ozbek, head of the Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK), quit on the 11 October 2010 along with three regular and three reserve members of the 12-member board.
