‘Marauding’ migrants threaten our standard of living, says Philip Hammond

Report of comments by the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on the 9 August 2015. He joined in the debate over migration with some of the UK government’s strongest language yet, claiming that millions of marauding African migrants posed a threat to the EU’s standard of living and social structure.

He called for EU laws to be overhauled to make sure that people coming from Africa to Europe could be returned to their home country.

Senior Labour figures and others criticised the comments.
