Malta's Labour party was set to return to power after 15 years in opposition, with a win of 55% of the vote in the general election held in March 2013.

Party leader Joseph Muscat claimed a 'landslide victory' for his party, with the outgoing Nationalist Party taking 43% of the ballots.
