Tory grandee Lord Heseltine turned on UK Prime Minister David Cameron in January 2013 warning the PM against taking a 'punt' by holding a referendum on Britain’s continued membership of the European Union. The former minister, who served under Margaret Thatcher, is renowned for his staunch Europhile views, and the comments made in interviews with The Times and FT on the 12 january 2013 ahead of Mr Cameron’s speech on the EU later in January 2013, would only serve to exacerbate Tory tensions over Europe. |
