Further information: This Action Plan is underpinned by a One Health approach that addresses resistance in both humans and animals and it was announced in October 2016. It build on the first AMR Action Plan which ran from 2011 to 2016. It draws on the recommendations of an independent external evaluation and views of stakeholders gathered through a public consultation. The Plan foresees more than 75 actions built on three main pillars: + Making the EU a best-practice region In parallel, the Commission also adopted the first deliverable of this plan: a set of EU Guidelines on the prudent use of antimicrobials in human health. The European Commission put forward on 29 June 2017 its new Action Plan to tackle Antimicrobal Resistance (AMR). It sets out a comprehensive framework for more extensive action to reduce the emergence and spread of AMR and to increase the development and availability of new effective antimicrobials inside and outside the European Union. |
