Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s purge of Olympic bureaucrats during March 2010 is the latest demonstration of a new style he has brought to the Russian presidency.

Over his two-year tenure, Mr Medvedev has fired four governors, 18 police generals, and 20 top prison officials and dozens of other lesser bureaucrats.

Article contrasts this with the approach of his predecessor (and now Prime Minister of Russia) Vladimir Putin, and analyses the significance of the different approaches for Russia.
