Italy ex-PM Berlusconi to do community service – court

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi must perform a year's community service in a home for the elderly, a Milan court ruled on the 15 April 2014.

The sentence followed his conviction in 2013 for tax fraud in connection with the purchase of TV rights by his firm, Mediaset, in the 1990s.

Mr Berlusconi completed his first day of a year's community service at a Catholic care home near Milan on the 9 May 2014.
