Italy counts 90,000 sea migrant arrivals so far this year

News reports, for example, that Italy's coast guard had reported that about 1,800 migrants were rescued from seven overcrowded vessels over the weekend of 1-2 August 2015.

On 5 August 2015, about 400 migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean were rescued off the coast of Libya after a wooden boat estimated to have around 600 people on board capsized.
