Local elections were held in 168 Italian councils and cities on 11 June 2017. A run-off vote was held on 25 June 2017 if necessary. The elections were characterised by a good performance of the centre-right coalition led by Forza Italia and Lega Nord. The ruling Democratic Party was damaged by the results but still managed to keep the majority of municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants. The Five Star Movement was excluded from the runoffs in all the most important cities. |
