EurActiv reported that the Irish EU presidency reached an agreement in principle with the European Parliament and the European Commission in Trilogue on the 25 June 2013 to ring-fence €70.2bn for the research budget from 2014-2020, resolving a number of disputes over the so-called Horizon 2020 programme.
