Article reports that the eurozone’s brush with negative inflation rates could prove short-lived after a smaller-than-expected year-on-year fall in prices in August 2009.

Consumer prices in the 16-country eurozone were 0.2% lower than in the same month in 2008, according to Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office. In July 2009, it had reported an annual rate of inflation of minus 0.7%.
