India announced on 5 August 2015 it had put off the resumption of talks on a planned free trade agreement with the European Union to the EU's refusal to lift a ban on the sale of around 700 pharmaceutical products. European regulators recommended in January 2015 suspending marketing approval for 25 generic drugs on concerns over the quality of data from clinical trials by GVK Biosciences. The ban came into effect in July. The Indian government had previously said it found no evidence of data manipulation and had been in talks with the European authorities for over eight months to end the ban. |
