Results from the general election in Hungary held on the 6 April 2014. Exit poll: Fidesz 48%, Unity Alliance 27%; Jobbik 18%, LMP passes 5% threshold for parliamentary representation. Later, existing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared victory, winning a second consecutive term of 4 years. An official from the OSCE international monitoring group, Adão Silva, said restrictive campaign rules and biased media coverage had helped Fidesz. Mr. Orban dismissed international criticism after his party triumphed in the election. Viktor Orbán was sworn in as Hungarian prime minister by President János Áder on the 6 May 2014. Hungary’s new parliament met for the first time on the 7 May 2014. |
