Report of comments by the United Kingdom Foreign Minister William Hague in an interview with The Spectator, September 2011. He said that a prediction he made in 1998 that the euro area would be 'a burning building with no exits' has been proved right and that eurozone member states would have to live with the consequences for decades. Mr Hague’s harsh tone on the euro crisis contrasted with the one adopted in a speech at the Eastern Partnership summit in Warsaw on the 29 September 2011 by Nick Clegg, deputy prime minister, who urged the eurozone to resolve Greece’s debt crisis quickly. |
