The leader of Greece's far-right Golden Dawn party, Nikolaos Mihaloliakos, and four of its Deputies appeared in court on the 1 October 2013 to enter pleas on charges of belonging to a criminal organisation after being arrested following the killing of the anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas. On the 3 October 2013 it was announced that the Golden Dawn leader had been ordered to remain in custody pending trial. On the 22 October, Greek lawmakers voted to cut off state funding to the far-right Golden Dawn party, the latest effort by the government to clamp down on a party it has branded a «neo-Nazi criminal gang». |
