Germany revives EU treaty change debate

In her briefing to the Bundestag before the European Council, Brussels, 19-20 December 2013 German Chancellor Angela Merkel revived the idea of EU treaty change aimed at agreeing on binding reform contracts.

Open Europe attempted to 'translate' what Mrs Merkel meant by treaty change into clear language: 'if you want us [Germany] to underwrite the euro, we need 'see-you-in-court' style supervisory powers, firmly grounded in law. That means, EU treaty change'.
