The aftershock of Volkswagen's emissions test scandal in September 2015 showed no signs of abating. After days of silence, German industry leaders began to step forward to defend one of the country's greatest assets: its brand. In the meantime, France and the United Kingdom were criticised for their 'hyprocisy' as they had allegedly lobbied to keep car tests for carbon emissions behind the scenes, while publicly calling for a Europe-wide investigation on the Volkswagen case. As the emissions scandal spread across the Volkswagen (VW) group, the company admitted on the 24 September 2015 that cars in Europe also cheated on tests. |
