A government panel set up in Germany in January 2014 to look at fears in a number of German cities about the abuse of the EU's free movement principles by citizens from Eastern and Central Europe issued an interim report on the 26 March 2014.

The final report was expected to be published in August 2014 and Open Europe reported on a German newspaper article summarising the final recommendations of the government panel.
