A meeting of the General Affairs Council was held on 25 April 2017. Its focus was on cohesion policy. The agenda includes the following topics:

+ Update on the state of play on a draft regulation simplifying the rules governing the European structural and investment funds (the so-called omnibus regulation);

+ Discussion on how cohesion policy can be brought closer to European citizens;

+ Adoption of conclusions on making cohesion policy more effective, relevant and visible to citizens;

+ Adoption of conclusions on the implementation of EU macro-regional strategies.
