Article reports that the French government continued its incremental approach to its budget deficit reduction on the 30 June 2010 with plans to cut spending by €10bn a year by 2013.

The 150 efficiency measures announced include scrapping 100,000 public sector jobs by replacing only one in two retiring staff, cutting business subsidies and welfare payments and streamlining administration. The efficiency drive follows earlier tax-raising measures that will bring in at least €13bn in 2011. The government also said it would squeeze public sector pay, saving €900m.
