France hosts Armenia-Azerbaijan summit over Nagorno-Karabakh

According to the French government, Armenian and Azeri leaders agreed to pursue talks over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region after resuming direct contacts at a meeting in Paris on 27 October 2014.

French President François Hollande stated that 'status quo is not sustainable', following an increase in clashes over the region earlier in the year.

Following Mr Hollande's presence at the ceremony of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, meetings took place billateraly with both the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, and Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan to assess the situation in the region.
