Foreign Affairs Council, 20 June 2016

A meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council was held on 20 June 2016 in Luxembourg. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Discussion on the integrated policy for the Arctic, followed by the adoption of conclusions;

+ Review of the situation in the Sahel and state of play of the comprehensive approach to security and development in the region;

+ Briefing by the High Representation on Foreign Policy regarding the EU-G5 Sahel ministerial meeting, taking place on 17 June;

+ Discussion on the political situation in FYR Macedonia;

+ Discussion regarding the Middle East peace process, as a follow up to the Paris conference held on 3 June;

+ Adoption of a decision to extend by one year the mandate of EU NAVFOR Med operation Sophia and to add two supporting tasks: training the Libyan coastguard and navy and contributing to the implementation of the UN arms embargo on the high seas off the coast of Libya.
