United Kingdom Secretary of State David Davis made a statement in the House of Commons on the 5 September 2016 on the work of the Department for Exiting the European Union.

He said that said there should be a national consensus on the country’s exit strategy.

Emily Thornberry, the shadow Foreign Secretary, criticised the Minister for not giving more detail as to the government's strategy or tactics.
