Eurogroup meeting, 22 January 2018

Background information:

This was the first meeting led by Portuguese Finance Minister Mário Centeno since his election for the Eurogroup Presidency.

A meeting of the Eurogroup was held on 22 January 2018. The agenda includes the following topics:

+ Agreement on the third review of Greece's economic adjustment programme;

+ Appointment of a new President of the Eurogroup Working Group;

+ Start of the procedure for the appointment of a new Vice-President of the European Central Bank (ECB);

+ Discussion on the next steps towards deepening the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), following the Euro Summit held in December 2017;

+ Discussion on the proposed Recommendation on the economic policy of the Eurozone for 2018;

+ Information on the outcome of the 7th post-programme surveillance (PPS) mission to Portugal, held in November-December 2017;

+ Exchange of views on findings in the framework of the IMF-Eurozone Article IV consultation.
