EU tells Croatia to change law or face sanctions

The European Commission threatened sanctions against Croatia in August 2013 if it failed to revert national amendments made to the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) in June 2013 just before Croatia became a member of the European Union on the 1 July 2013.

Germany had asked Croatia to extradite an alleged ex-spy Josip Perkovic sought over a communist-era assassination West Germany in 1983 after Croatia joined the European Union.
