EU monitors begin work at gas pipelines

European Union monitors began work on the 11 January 2009 at main gas pipeline intersections on the western and eastern Ukrainian borders, in spite of new setbacks to efforts to end disruptions to gas supplies from Russia that have hit millions of people in 18 countries in Europe.
