EU funds help Poland build ‘ghost’ airports

EurActiv reported in December 2014 on several Polish airports which had been built throughout the years with European Union funds and were now unable to be kept in business due to a lack of passengers.

According to the article, around 80 airports in Europe attract fewer than 1 million passengers a year, and about three-quarters of those are in the red, according to industry body Airports Council International.
