EU crime optouts ‘could damage UK crime fighting’

Plans by the United Kingdom Government to opt out of 130 European Union police and criminal justice measures could weaken the UK's ability to fight crime, a report from a sub-committee of the UK's House of Lords EU Committee published in April 2013 has suggested. The Commitee reported that UK ministers failed to make 'a convincing case' for repatriating the powers.
