EU court casts doubt on legality of Poland’s shale gas licences

EurActiv reported that Poland’s shale gas business faced a serious challenge after the European Court of Justice ruled on the 27 June 2013 that Poland violated European law by allowing licences to be issued for the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons, without fully open tenders.
