Article reported that the European Parliament was annoyed that EU countries endorsed Neven Mates, the Croatian candidate for the European Court of Auditors in July 2013 despite the fact that members of the European Parliament (MEPs) had rejected him one month earlier. Formally, the European Parliament is only consulted on the nomination.
