Report of a transparency initiative announced by European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans on the 19 November 2014. The Transparency Initiative is at the core of President Juncker's political guidelines. A discussion within the Commissioners weekly meeting on the 19 November 2014 focused on the implementation of this initiative to assure more transparency when it comes to contacts between Commissioners, their Cabinets and Directors-General on the one hand and interest groups and individuals registered in the Transparency Registry on the other hand. This is already partly reflected in the working methods adopted by the European Commission on 12 November 2014, underlining that a commitment to transparency should characterise the work of all the members of the Commission. As of 1 December 2014, all Members of the Commission are expected to make public on the Commission's website all contacts and meetings held with stakeholders and lobbyists. In addition, the College also discussed ways of making the on-going talks for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the EU and US more transparent |
