The 18th bilateral summit between the European Union and China took place on 12-13 July 2016 in Beijing .European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker represented the EU at the summit. Discussions were held in the framework of the jointly agreed EU-China 2020 strategic agenda for cooperation. Leaders were expected to give political guidance for completion of the comprehensive agreement on investment (CAI) and to endorse a first list of projects on connectivity. They were also expected to touch upon the issue of China's market economy status. The summit was expected to cover mobility and migration, foreign policy cooperation and the human rights dialogue with China. Leaders also assessed the implementation of the EU-China climate change declaration of 2015. |
