EU changes tack on Google, threatens record fine

EU and other news sources reported on comments made by European Commissioner for Competition Joaquin Almunia on the 23 September 2014 on the ongoing Google investigation.

While a provisional settlement with Google had been suggested earlier in 2014, additional evidence from complainants had led to the European Commission toughening its stance. Google might face a 'statement of objections'. the formal path towards a fine that could equate to 10% of the company’s global revenue, or about €4bn.
