The United Kingdom government was defeated in the UK Parliament on the 31 October 2012 over its negotiating position on the EU budget.

Opposition Labour party MPs sided with eurosceptics in the government's own Conservative party to demand a real-term reduction in the Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF), 2014 - 2020 currenty being negotiated.
