EU agrees draft plan for aviation emissions

On the 5 March 2014, the European Union reached a preliminary deal on a law that will exempt long-haul flights from paying for carbon emissions until 2016, EU sources told EurActiv.

The EU commissioner in charge of transport, Siim Kallas, said the EU executive was still “committed to the ETS” and put the blame on member states for its failure.
