A meeting of the Environment Council was held on 22 December 2009. The agenda included the following topics: + Discussion on the outcome and follow-up of the Copenhagen climate conference; + Adoption of conclusions regarding regional approaches to management of water and the marine environment, including implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region; + Adoption of conclusions on international biodiversity beyond 2010; + Adoption of conclusions on combination effects of chemicals; + Review of the restrictive measures against persons, groups and entities subject to the EU's autonomous regime to combat terrorism; + Decision to prolong by 15 months anti-dumping duties on imports into the European Union of footwear with leather uppers from China and Vietnam; + Decision to extend restrictive measures against the Republic of Guinea, following the violent crackdown on political demonstrations on 28 September, and to suspend the fisheries partnership agreement with the country; + Decision to amend restrictive measures against North Korea; + Appointment of new members and alternate members of the Committee of the Regions. |
