Environment Council, 17 December 2014

A meeting of the Environment Council was held on 17 December 2014. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Political agreement on the regulation setting out new EU-wide rules for monitoring, reporting and verification of CO2 emissions for ships;

+ Political agreement on a draft directive to reduce the consumption of lightweight plastic bags;

+ General approach on a draft directive on the limitation of emissions of certain pollutants into the air from medium combustion plants;

+ Assessment of the European Commission's 2015 Work Programme, focusing on the importance of the circular economy package, the waste review and the clean air package;

+ Political agreement on the Doha amendment ratification package;

+ Discussion regarding the latest developments and prospects for the negotiations on the UN post-2015 poverty and development agenda.
